Thermal Lamination (ENCAPSULATION).

Traditionally applied two sides at once. The films used are generally polyester based, and commonly available in a variety of film thickness from 33 micron up to 250 micron, with 75 micron being the most common. (1000 microns = 1mm). The polyester outer layer of the film has a heat activated resin coating - hence the term Thermal Lamination. The thickness of the polyester determines the stiffness of the film, and the quality of the polyester usually determines the clarity.

Thermal Lamination is generally short run, often 1 or a few items are processed. There are higher volume jobs where automated trimming is brought in to reduce unit costs.

We invested in high quality Automation in 2006 giving options including full Autofeed and Autotrim in-line to greatly reduce run times and offer increased efficiency. Direct importing of high quality films added to cost efficiency giving us guarentees of the best pricing levels for high volume runs.

We offer a high volume service to companies who offer a low volume solution, such as copy centres. This service is at discount rates and targets the runs that are difficult to process in-house. We also cater for oversize items up to 1500mm wide!

We offer a range of films with Gloss, Satin, and Matt finishes, plus also some special use films such as outdoor UV films, textured finish, peel and stick, and now SILVERSHIELD a bacteria resistant thermal film ideal for restaurant menus, hospitals, school and education use.

Common uses for thermal lamination include Menus, Placemats, Posters, Plans, and Charts.
